2022 Kia Telluride Overview: What’s New, MPG, Price
The 2022 Telluride stands out from the herd with its versatile capabilities, high-end feel, and unrivaled value. As Kia’s largest vehicle, it also effortlessly executes its mission – to have enough space and power to haul the family and their cargo. The Telluride can host up to 8 passengers and has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000lbs, plenty for towing trailers, boats, or camping gear.
New for 2022, the top-rated SUV adds a larger 10.25-inch display, fully automatic climate control, and highway assist to the LX and S trims. Additionally, all trims will now have Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Curve, as well as a redesigned grille featuring Kia’s new logo. Similar to last year, the 2022 models will have nine different exterior color options.
In terms of fuel economy, the Telluride is a fierce competitor for SUVs. The EPA estimates the front-drive grades are the most efficient, with ratings of 20 MPG city and 26 MPG highway. All-wheel-drive models drop to 19 MPG city and 24 MPG highway. This rivals competitors like Volkswagens, Buick, and Honda.
The 2022 Telluride will be available in the same four trims as last year’s model: LX, S, EX, and SX. MSRP ranges from $34,015 to $43,915, depending on the trim.
Exterior and Powertrain
The 2022 Telluride keeps the same gold-standard powertrain configuration as last year’s model.
The potent 291-horsepower V6 engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that provides a quick response and smooth gear changes. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is also available on all trims. Together, the powertrain can effectively tow up to 5,000lb and has 262 lb-ft of torque.
In its latest update, the 2022 Telluride maintains its bold style adding on slight cosmetic updates. Most prominently is Kia’s new logo, which is proudly displayed on the restyled grille. Other new appearance updates include a rear liftgate and standard steering wheel cover. In addition, the Telluride will be available in 9 exterior color options: Sangria, Wolf Gray, Dark Moss, Ebony Black, Black Copper, Gravity Gray, Snow White Pearl, Everlasting Silver, and Glacial White Pearl.
Technology and Safety
New for 2022, the LX and S models will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen, replacing the old 8.0-inch unit. Along with this, the two trims will come with fully automatic temperature control. Plus, a new semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control navigation system will adjust the vehicle’s speed while going around curves.
The large infotainment system seamlessly connects with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, along with numerous other features. For example, with Kia’s UVO link, drivers can utilize features of the Telluride remotely through their smartphones. Features like Remote Smart, Remote Climate, Find My Car, and Remote Lock and Unlock can all be viewed and controlled from anywhere, anytime. Along with this, the Telluride also features Driver Talk, where the driver’s voice will be amplified through speakers to the two back rows for better communication with passengers.

For additional cargo space, the third row can be folded down, providing a total of 46 cubic feet of space. With the middle seats folded, space reaches up to 87 cubic feet.
